Alerts that Reach Somebody and Uptime Checks that Are Not a Red Dot

An alert policy with no email and no Slack webhook is valid, evaluated and triggers to nobody; CPU, memory and disk metrics exist only where the agent runs; and an uptime check without its alert resource is a status page. A recipient required, CPU/memory/disk defaults by tag, the agent-dependent alerts listed, and a down alert plus optional latency and certificate-expiry alerts on every check.

Verification

Static-verified

Passed: validated and lint-clean (provider-schema-validated for AWS/Azure/GCP; Terraform-language lint elsewhere).

Conformance

  • Static validation (fmt · validate · tflint)
  • No applicable security policies for this provider
  • Plan tests (mocked: validation rules · outputs)

Provenance

  • SHA-256 checksum
  • Signature (pending)

Functional

  • Live test pending (no cloud run yet)

Create a free account to read this module's contract

The declared contract - every input name, type, default and description, plus every output - is shown to signed-in accounts, not to anonymous visitors.

A free account sees the contract of every module in the catalogue. There is no subscription and nothing to buy - the modules are free to download, and they run under Vizier.

Documentation

do-monitoring

DigitalOcean monitoring alerts that reach somebody, and uptime checks whose failure is not just a red dot. Works with Terraform and OpenTofu (>= 1.6), digitalocean provider >= 2.0, < 3.0.

An alert policy with no recipient is valid to the API. Refused here.

The metrics exist only where the agent runs. CPU, memory, disk and load need the metrics agent (monitoring = true on the droplet); bandwidth does not. needs_metrics_agent lists the alerts that depend on it.

An uptime check without an alert is a status page. Every check gets a down alert, plus optional latency and certificate-expiry alerts.

Verification

Static validation runs tofu fmt, init, validate, tflint and checkov. This module has not yet had a live test, so it is published as statically validated with its live test pending and does not carry the live-tested mark.
