A Chaos Experiment Bounded by Duration, Scope and Identity

Chaos Studio has no stop condition: an experiment runs for its actions' duration or until somebody presses Stop, so the duration is the only guardrail and every action here is capped. The experiment acts as its own identity and fails safely without a role on each target; every fault it can inject is a capability somebody enabled on an onboarded target, so the scope cannot quietly widen.

Verification

Static-verified

Passed: validated and lint-clean (provider-schema-validated for AWS/Azure/GCP; Terraform-language lint elsewhere).

Conformance

  • Static validation (fmt · validate · tflint)
  • No applicable security policies for this provider
  • Plan tests (mocked: validation rules · outputs)

Provenance

  • SHA-256 checksum
  • Signature (pending)

The declared contract - every input name, type, default and description, plus every output - is shown to signed-in accounts, not to anonymous visitors.

Documentation

azure-chaos-studio

A Chaos Studio experiment that can only touch what it was onboarded to, for a bounded time, as an identity you granted. Works with Terraform and OpenTofu (>= 1.6), azurerm provider >= 4.0, < 5.0.

There is no stop condition. An experiment runs for its actions' duration or until somebody presses Stop; the duration is the guardrail, and every action here is capped by max_action_duration_minutes. has_stop_condition is always false so nobody assumes otherwise.

The experiment acts as its identity. Grant principal_id the role each fault needs on each target, or it fails at run time (the safe direction).

A target is onboarded, then a capability is enabled, then the experiment may use it. Every fault it can inject is a capability somebody created.

Verification

Static validation runs tofu fmt, init, validate, tflint and checkov. This module has not yet had a live test, so it is published as statically validated with its live test pending and does not carry the live-tested mark.
