aws-security-hub
Security Hub with explicitly chosen standards, cross-region finding
aggregation, optional organization delegation, and suppression expressed as
automation rules. Works with Terraform and OpenTofu (>= 1.6), AWS
provider >= 6.0, < 7.0.
Defaults worth knowing:
enable_default_standardsis off. The API default turns on AWS Foundational Security Best Practices and CIS, which on a mature account produce thousands of findings billed per ingestion. That is a reasonable choice and it should be a choiceSECURITY_CONTROLfinding generation, which produces one finding per control across standards rather than one per standard per control- Aggregation is a decision you have to make: without it findings stay in the region that produced them, and a single-region console view quietly omits the rest
- Silencing a finding is suppression, not a disabled control. A suppressed finding still exists, still carries a note saying who decided and why, and can be audited. A disabled control leaves no record that anybody decided anything
