Identity Center Permission Sets and Assignments

Permission sets with managed policy, inline policy and permissions boundaries, and the account assignments that actually grant them - written out as auditable (set, account, principal) triples rather than buried in a console.

  • Static validation (fmt · validate · tflint)
  • Security scan pending (Checkov)
  • Plan tests (mocked: validation rules · outputs)

Provenance

  • SHA-256 checksum
  • Signature (pending)

Use it from the registry

terraform · opentofu
module "iam_identity_center" {
  source  = "www.iac-bazaar.com/iac-bazaar/aws-iam-identity-center/aws"
  version = "1.0.0"
}

Needs a registry token from /account/tokens. The module itself is free; the account is what identifies you. Full setup: registry docs.

Inputs & outputs

Create a free account to read this module's contract

The declared contract - every input name, type, default and description, plus every output - is shown to signed-in accounts, not to anonymous visitors.

A free account sees the contract of every module in the catalogue. There is no subscription and nothing to buy - the modules are free to download, and they run under Vizier.

Documentation

aws-iam-identity-center

Permission sets and the account assignments that grant them, with managed policies, inline policy and permissions boundaries. Works with Terraform and OpenTofu (>= 1.6), AWS provider >= 6.0, < 7.0.

The point of emphasis: a permission set grants nothing until it is assigned. The failure here is rarely a set that is too broad - it is one assigned to a group whose membership nobody reviews, in an account nobody remembers. So assignments are written out as explicit (permission set, account, principal) triples, and assignment_keys returns the whole list so it can be diffed in a review or dropped into an access report.

Other defaults:

  • session_duration stays at the API default of one hour. A long console session is a credential that outlives the reason it was issued
  • principal_type validates to GROUP or USER, and the error message says to prefer GROUP: a user assignment outlives the person's role
  • permissions_boundary_arn caps what a set can ever grant, including policy added to it later

Verification

Static validation runs tofu fmt, init, validate, tflint and checkov. This module has not yet had a live test, so it is published as statically validated with its live test pending and does not carry the live-tested mark.

Usage code & full reference need an account

The complete copy-paste usage, the full input/output reference, and operational notes are free with an account - shown here and bundled in the download. Sign in and this section fills in.
